It’s the start of a new year and the perfect time to get the team on board with your company goals for 2023. The first meeting of the year is an important opportunity to make sure everyone knows where they stand, what’s expected of them, and what plans are in place going forward.
We hold company meetings on the first Tuesday of every month and this one is no different! It’s important to get your team together to agree and set the direction for annual goals. This is especially true in a year like 2022, when things were so difficult for our company and the industry as a whole. Coming together as a team and hashing out our goals was crucial in making sure that we all stayed on the same page throughout the year.
While it may be tempting to put off setting goals until later in the year, it’s important to remember that things can change quickly and it’s best to have a plan in place from the start. We saw this first hand in 2022 – things were constantly evolving and changing, so it was essential that we were able to adapt quickly. An example of this was the continuously changing price of steel, our regular meeting structure allowed us to frequently make decisions on pricing that allowed us to succeed where others sadly failed.
For 2023, we prioritized this meeting as we understand how important it is to have a set of agreed-upon goals at the beginning of the year. Making sure that everyone was on the same page and working towards the same objectives. This we believe will be the key to a successful 2023 and beyond!
Struggling to set goals or need some guidance?
Here are a few tips:
1. Define what success looks like
Before you can set any goals, you need to know what success looks like. What are you trying to achieve? What are your key objectives? Defining success upfront will help make sure that everyone is on the same page and knows what they’re working towards.
2. Set achievable goals
It’s important to set realistic goals – ones that your team is actually capable of achieving. Having unrealistic goals is only going to lead to frustration and disappointment. Instead, focus on setting achievable goals that challenge your team but are still within reach.
3. Make sure everyone is on board
Not everyone is going to agree with every goal – that’s okay! But it’s important that everyone is at least on board with the general direction that you’re heading in. This way, everyone will be working towards the same objectives and there won’t be any conflict or confusion.
Our Team Goal
In addition to setting our company goals and targets, in this meeting our team also agreed on a team goal. This year, our team is taking on the UK three-peak challenge. This is a physical challenge that will test and push our team whilst building their team working skills.
The challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours. It will be a tough physical challenge, but it will also be a great opportunity for us to work together as a team.
We are excited to take on this challenge and we are confident that we can complete it successfully. We are looking forward to putting our teamwork skills to the test and achieving something that we can be proud of.
